Certainly no competition for extra Refineries. You cannot rely on Oil Derricks for a good income either, they're worth grabbing since they add a bit extra but it's nothing massive. You'll have to defend that area of course, but I find you need at least three Refineries to have a good rate of production in this game, plus a Tesla Coil defended by walls is powerful against most ground units if you want a good option to defend that area. Since you are playing as Soviets you can either build a Sputnik and send it to deploy near a third Ore Node, or you can move your MCV itself there. It sounds like you aren't building any extra Refineries. What do I do as allies or soviets? What are some good tips for beating the AI in general? I want to eventually be able to easily defeat a brutal AI. On top of that, they put up a sonic bomb or whatever, and after 6 minutes, half of my base is gone.
My base defenses hardly do anything, they'll attack with infantry and a few vehicles and they always get to some part of my base where my sentry guns won't shoot them and they take out my lingering infantry in the base and I'm stuck useless as they slowly kill my buildings. I get starved on funds and can't build anything. I've tried everything, I tried allies to beat them in a balanced air/ground strike and I can't even uncover their base. Will building more miners once having a war factory up help? They always destroy my oil derricks with either their commando or a rush from air units, they dominate me economy wise, I'm starved for resources for only having my two ore miners and nothing else. I don't know what the unit is called, a robot looking thing, took out a small army of 8-10 tanks like nothing. I try small coordinated attacks with hammer tanks and bullfrogs and I just get shut down. Their units just seem way too powerful, my tanks do nothing. I really like playing as Soviet's because I love a dominating ground game, I've been trying to tackle the Rising Sun on Medium AI on a small 1v1 map and I can't get even close.
Now I can't even scratch a medium AI on this game.
This is coming from a player where I used to be able to take on over 4 brutal enemies at once with America or Iraq on RA2. Many of you will probably find it odd that I don't play online at all, but I love playing skirmishes against the AI. I just got this game for Christmas, and I am a long time Red Alert 2 veteran, so I consider myself good at this game, at least for what I like to do.
